Based in France Focal JMLab design and manufacture their own drive units, all their speaker ranges are designed and manufactured in-house and undergo vigorous testing. JM Lab is famous for its inverted dome tweeter technology, which is used in all ranges, offering unique dispersion characteristics with exceptional detail, design and clarity.

JM Lab is now taking the domestic HiFi speaker to new levels in both stereo and multi channel formats. The four ranges are Chorus S, Cobalt S, Electra and the Be Utopia Line covering all budget and system requirements.

The mid and bass drivers have exceptional design. The W-type cone used in most of the ranges is unique, being a sandwich construction, (2 layers filled with foam) This makes for an exceptionally strong but very light drive unit which sonically leads to mid range clarity, bass definition and control.

JM Lab speakers are efficient and not too demanding for average amplifiers, however the speakers work extremely well with high current designs such as Primare and Parasound, the results are quite stunning. Music starts and stops as it should, the music is layered properly, tonally correct, bass is tight, defined and well extended irrespective of which model. They create fabulous atmosphere and emotion this providing very successful in home theatre demonstrations, the sound enveloping the listener.

Unique Beryllium Technology: The New Focal JM Lab Utopia Range

The GRAND UTOPIA Be is the ultimate speaker from JM Lab. Featuring 15 inch and 11 inch W cone woofers, two 6.5 inch W cone midrange drivers and a Beryllium tweeter and weighing a massive 210kg this 4-way Floor Stander is the ultimate in expert technology and sound. Next in line from the giant Grand Utopia Be is the 3 way floorstanding Nova which at 133cm tall it boasts two 6.5 inch W Cone Midrange Drivers and the Beryllium tweeter found in the flagship model. The third of the Utopia floorstanders is the Alto which sits bellow the Nova (120cm tall) The Alto carries a more slender cabinet. This 3-way floor stander still holds the Beryliium tweeter as the central focus flanked by a 6.5inch midrange driver and an 11 inch W cone bass driver.

 

 

 

The new Micro Be Utopia is simply the best Stand Mount speaker in the world! This is the only Stand Mount in the Utopia Be range; the micro brings Utopia sound and technology in a compact footprint. This 2-way bass reflex loudspeaker still radiates Focal-JMLab's pursuit for sonic subtlety and is loaded with a 6.5 inch W cone and Beryllium tweeter.

Focal JM Lab Electra Range

The Electra Range offers numerous possibilities for those who wish to assemble a high performance hi-fi or home theatre system.

Their sound is exceptionally transparent and riveting with pin-point accuracy and fabulous tonal shading.

The smallest of this series (the Electra 906) has won the European Loudspeaker of the Year award for 2002-2003 from EISA- One listen will reveal just why so much praise has been heaped upon a modest sized speaker
The Electra range was also awarded a 4 star review in Hi-Fi Choice magazine.
The Electra speakers can be sold in pairs for stereo use and can be expanded to include a matching sub and center channel speaker for 5.1 surround use.

The Electra range comprises of 3 Floor Standing speakers, 1 Stand Mount loud speaker, 2 center channel speakers, a surround (bi polar) and an active subwoofer.
A large pallet of finish options allows a harmonious blend into most surroundings.
The "Classic" finish has as a sober Black satin center and warm cherry side panels. (As shown)
The "Technic" version has a Granite Grey central finish with black ash sides. The "Signiture" uses the same Granite Grey central core with matching grille and Red Cherry stained cheeks.

 

Focal JM Lab Cobalt S Range

The new Award Winning Cobalt S is based closely on the standard Cobalt but incorporating a substantial revamp.
It utilizes 'W-sandwich' technology in all of the mid and bass drive units. Key Colbalt S elements include a new acoustically transparent dust cap for the topmost bass/mid driver, a more effective cabinet damping material and the Tioxid 5 version of the inverted titanium dome tweeter.

Sonically the Cobalt S sets the benchmark for all speakers in this class, delivering a rare combination of open neutrality alongside ample bass drive and weight, and realistic dynamic expression. The original model was already a leading performer, and this upgrade undoubtedly represents a significant improvement.

The Cobalt S range comprises of 2 Floor Standing speakers, 1 Stand Mount loud speaker, 1 Center channel speaker, a surround loudspeaker and an active subwoofer.

There are four finishes for the Cobalt range; as shown from the top;
The "Technic" Finish which is Black Ash with black Aluminum.
The "Style" Finish which is Cherry with Brushed Natural Aluminum,
The "Signature" Finish which has Red natural Cherry with Aluminum.
The "Classic" Finish which has a Calvados wood finish with Black Aluminum.

 

Focal JM Lab Chorus S Range

The CHORUS was the first range of JM Lab speaker. The new CHORUS "S" range follows on from the Chorus, which has achieved global bestseller status over the past two years. They all have the famous titanium inverted dome tweeter; the mid and bass drivers use the poly-glass technology (tiny, hollow micro spheres of glass coated onto the cone surface)

This extended line up, 9 models strong comprises of 3 floor standing, 3 compact loudspeakers, 2 centre channel loudspeakers and an active subwoofer, available in 3 finishes; Style, Technic and Classic.

Focal JM Lab Sib & Cub

The Sib & Cub is a compact 5.1 Home Cinema System. There are 5 'Sibs' which are Hi fi and Home Cinema Loudspeakers and 1 Cub - an active Sub.

 

The Sib is a totally new concept multi-purpose loudspeaker. You can connect it to your traditional stereo equipment or use it in multi channel systems, as well as in multi room applications. They are even splash proof to provide you with reliable long-term operation when used in humid environments.
